Kara is a compassionate psychologist who works from a person-centred, trauma- informed, affirming approach that values each individual’s unique way of feeling, thinking and being in the world. Kara has lived experience of neurodivergence which informs how she connects with the people she works with, and is committed to creating a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space where people are able to feel heard, understood and empowered to express themselves.
Kara uses a number of evidence-based therapies to support people through life’s challenges. She tailors the therapeutic approach to meet each person’s needs.
She has experience using cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution focused therapy, Schema therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), or compassion focused therapy (CFT).
As a general psychologist, Kara works with children, teens and adults who are experiencing a range of concerns. She has experience working in a number of settings including government, not-for-profit and private practice. Kara has a special interest in working with neurodivergent children and adolescents, and their families.
