Family Counselling & Therapy That Brings You Closer

Lauren helps families, couples, and individuals on the Sunshine Coast work through challenges, rebuild trust, and create healthier, more supportive relationships.

What Happens in a Family Therapy Session?

Each family is unique, but Lauren’s sessions usually include:

Warm welcome & check-in – time for each family member to share how they’re feeling coming into the session.
Goal setting – defining what you’d like to change or improve as a family (e.g. fewer arguments, calmer routines, stronger bonds).
Creating ground rules – agreeing on respectful communication and ensuring everyone feels safe to speak.
Exploring family patterns – identifying cycles of conflict or behaviours that keep repeating, without focusing on blame.
Skill-building exercises – practising tools such as active listening, emotion coaching for kids, or fair conflict resolution.
Family dialogue – guided conversations where everyone is supported to listen and respond in new ways.
Take-home strategies – practical steps or activities to try between sessions so changes continue outside the therapy room.
Review & planning – reflecting on progress and agreeing on what to focus on next time.

Lauren ensures that sessions are balanced: sometimes the whole family is together, while other times she may meet briefly with parents, siblings, or children individually, depending on what will be most helpful.

Family Therapy on the Sunshine Coast

Family therapy is about strengthening connection and creating healthier patterns at home. Families often come to counselling when communication has broken down, conflicts repeat, or life changes leave everyone feeling disconnected.

Lauren views the family as a system: when one person struggles, the whole family is affected. Sessions with her focus on helping each member feel heard and valued, while teaching practical skills that make day-to-day life calmer and more supportive.
