Sometimes we all need support

How can a psychologist help?

Psychology provides a confidential space to understand what is happening, explore the factors affecting your wellbeing and develop practical ways forward.

You do not need to wait until life feels unmanageable. People seek psychological support for many reasons, including emotional distress, a difficult life event, relationship concerns, parenting challenges, personal growth or a desire to understand themselves more clearly.

Our approach is warm, collaborative and tailored to the individual. Your psychologist will take time to understand your goals and recommend an evidence-based approach suited to your needs.

Psychology may help you to:

  • Understand thoughts, emotions and behaviour patterns
  • Develop strategies for stress, anxiety or low mood
  • Process grief, trauma or significant life changes
  • Strengthen communication and relationships
  • Build emotional regulation, resilience and confidence
  • Work towards meaningful personal goals

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

ACT can help people respond more flexibly to difficult thoughts and move towards personally meaningful values.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

Care is paced with attention to safety, choice, collaboration and the impact of past experiences.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing may be considered for trauma and other suitable concerns.

Skills-Based Approaches

Sessions may include strategies drawn from DBT, emotional regulation, communication and coping-skills work.

Frequently asked questions

Psychology FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

No. You can book privately without a referral. However, you generally need an eligible referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate.

How do I choose the right psychologist?

Our administration team can ask about the support you are seeking, your location, availability and preferences, then explain suitable practitioner options. The therapeutic relationship matters, so we welcome feedback about your experience.

How many psychology sessions will I need?

This depends on your concerns, goals and circumstances. Some people seek short-term support, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. Your psychologist can discuss a recommended plan after learning more about you.

Are psychology sessions confidential?

Psychologists protect your privacy and confidentiality in accordance with professional and legal requirements. There are limited exceptions, such as serious safety concerns or where disclosure is required by law, which your psychologist can explain.

Can children and teenagers see a psychologist?

Yes. Our clinic offers age-appropriate psychology support for children and teenagers. Parent or caregiver involvement depends on the child’s age, needs, consent arrangements and treatment goals.

Do you offer online psychology appointments?

Yes, online sessions may be available where telehealth is clinically appropriate. Medicare, private health or other funding eligibility depends on current requirements and your circumstances.

Can I use NDIS funding?

Eligible clients with self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding may be able to access psychology services when the support is appropriate and included within their plan.
