Autism assessments are generally arranged over four appointments, with additional time allocated for preparing the assessment report.
Initial Consultation
Meet your psychologist and discuss developmental history, current concerns, strengths, everyday functioning and assessment goals.
Assessment Sessions
Complete appropriate structured interviews, observations and diagnostic assessment activities. These are tailored to the person's age and needs.
Comprehensive Report
Your psychologist considers the information collected and prepares a report outlining findings, diagnostic conclusions where supported, and recommendations.
Feedback & Next Steps
Discuss the results, ask questions and explore practical next steps for home, education, work or further professional support.

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition, uses structured activities and observations to assess aspects of social communication and behaviour.
MIGDAS-2
The Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum, Second Edition, provide a sensory-based, interview-focused approach to exploring autistic characteristics.
Clinical & Developmental History
Information from the individual, parents, caregivers or other relevant sources may be considered alongside DSM-5-TR criteria and clinical judgement.
Not every psychologist uses the same tool. If you require ADOS-2 or MIGDAS-2 specifically, please tell reception before booking. No single assessment tool establishes an autism diagnosis on its own.

Where can I get an autism assessment on the Sunshine Coast?
Integrated Wellness Clinic provides autism assessments at Suite 505, 45 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba. We welcome enquiries from families in Maroochydore, Buderim, Caloundra, Noosa and surrounding Sunshine Coast areas.
Do you have a waitlist for autism assessments?
We currently advertise minimal wait times. Appointment availability depends on the person's age, preferred location and suitable psychologist.
Do you assess children, teenagers and adults?
Our listed autism assessment clinicians currently cover selected ages from 5 to 30. Ebony assesses ages 5–18, Kosta ages 5–30, and Jenny ages 6–14. Contact reception to confirm the most suitable clinician.
How many appointments are required?
Our usual autism assessment pathway involves four appointments: an initial interview, two assessment sessions and a feedback session. Report preparation is also part of the assessment process. The exact pathway may vary based on clinical needs.
Do you use ADOS-2 or MIGDAS-2?
Assessment methods vary between psychologists. Some use ADOS-2 and others use MIGDAS-2. Please tell our team if you require a particular assessment tool.
Do I need a GP referral?
No GP referral is generally required to book a private autism assessment. Funding or rebate arrangements may have additional requirements.
Will I receive a written report?
The assessment pathway includes report preparation. Your psychologist will explain the findings, whether diagnostic criteria are met, and recommendations relevant to your circumstances.
Can an autism assessment help with NDIS access?
A diagnostic assessment may provide relevant evidence for an NDIS access request, but a diagnosis does not automatically establish eligibility. The NDIA makes access decisions based on its applicable criteria.
Can Medicare or NDIS pay for the assessment?
Medicare rebates depend on the particular service, practitioner, referral and eligibility criteria. NDIS funding for diagnostic assessments is not automatically available. Confirm eligibility before booking.
Is Afterpay available for autism assessments?
Afterpay is available at our Sunshine Coast (Mooloolaba) clinic for eligible payments. Afterpay terms and eligibility requirements apply. Ask reception which assessment payments can use Afterpay.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Payment plans are available at our Sunshine Coast and Brisbane locations. Please discuss an arrangement with reception before commencing your assessment.
How much does an autism assessment cost?

Can parents attend the assessment?
